I get so many questions about mini sessions vs. full sessions when clients are looking to book a family photo session. What is a mini session? Can we really get good photos in 20 minutes? Can I schedule a mini session whenever and wherever I want? Read on to find the answers to all your questions, and reach out if you have any questions that I didn’t answer!

Mini Photo Session

Mini sessions are great if you need a few updated photos, milestone photos, or for Christmas card photos! A mini session is a photo session that is a smaller amount of time (I typically set mine for 20 minutes) at a set location on one specific date with a certain selection of times to choose from. Mini sessions are perfect for families with young kiddos! I have learned that twenty minutes it he perfect amount of time to get photos of your kiddos before they totally lose interest. It might seem a little nerve racking to book a session for only twenty minutes, however I usually deliver 30+ photos from mini sessions, which is perfect to get a few updated photos of your growing family from this sweet and fast changing time in your life.

Mini sessions are scheduled by the photographer only on a specific date (they are usually seasonal) and are only at one location that is chosen by the photographer. Mini sessions are scheduled back to back, so the set date, location and times make it the most efficient for everyone!

Full Photo Session

I do love mini sessions, but full sessions have my heart. Full sessions are great if your kiddo needs a little time to warm up to an unfamiliar face. They are also fantastic if you want a more lifestyle/editorial style of photos. Full sessions can be scheduled on a date that works best for you and at a location of your choice. Full sessions typically take about an hour, so they allow us to take our time and let your family get more comfortable in front of the camera so we capture those special, raw and authentic moments that you experience with your family on a daily basis. Full sessions can be downtown, at a park, in your home for a lifestyle session, of your family doing something that is a special tradition (baking cookies, pizza night, etc. This options are endless!).
